S.C. Dobson

The "S.C. Dobson" was built in 1865 by James Lowery of Tilgham, Maryland, for a Mr. Tom Burke. She is 32 feet long. The "S.C. Dobson's" original name was the "Hattie B", but it was changed by Mr. Walter Dobson when he purchased her, in honor of Mr. Dobson's parents. The original owner, Mr. Tom Burke, had her for about 34 years, then transferred her to a nephew Frank Burke. Frank Burke sold her to a Captain Bill Coulbourne, who later sold her to Mr. Ed Morris of St. Michaels. It was Mr. Morris who sold her to Walter Dobson. When Mr. Dobson died in the 1980's, his family sold the boat to Mr. Tom Love of Cambridge, Maryland. Mr. Love sold her to James Smith of Chestertown, Maryland, who now owns her.
