Edmee S. #20

Originally named the "Cecilia Mae", the log canoe now named the "Edmee S" was built by Oliver Duke in the early 1930's. Her first owner was Cecil Jenkins of Cambridge, Maryland, who never raced her competitively. She was acquired by Jim Richardson of LeCompte Bay on the Choptank River, who reduced her rig and used her for pleasure sailing and hauling bags of sand until World War II, when she was laid up for the duration of the war. In 1979, she was purchased by William Combs, who restored her and renamed her "Edmee S" after his wife, Edmee Shaefer Combs. In 1980, Combs donated her to the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels, where she is still racing today under the Museum's burgee. The "Edmee S" was recognized as a distinctive historic craft and added to the National Register in 1985.
